I had my night perfectly planned to update with so long over due posts. As it turns out, my pictures from the last few months are all over the place - my phone, Jack's phone, and my camera. So, tonight turned into a "let me get organized". I plan to update this baby over the weekend.
Until then. Here's a picture:
Hope you are staying cool!
See you this weekend.

overdue rants and raves
Here's a few rants and raves that we (maybe just me) have experienced during the lack of blogging time....
1. 90's on 9 is the best station on SiriusXM.
2. Paying bills is the worst part of being a grown up.
3. We are ready for our red clay to be covered in green grass. I am tried of wiping red dust off my sweet Duncan Dog's nose.
4. Vacations are an important part of life.
5. We are ready for our friends to stop moving away (you know who you are). On the other hand, we are happy some friends have moved northward towards us!
6. Our tree in our front yard may or may not be half dead.
7. I (Kayla) am needing to watch Bad Boys 2, but my favorite Bad Boys 2 gal is about 1,700 miles away (come back to Oklahoma).
8. I (Kayla, again) wishes the Quillen's lived closer so we could all go see MIB3, cause the first one holds some pretty special memories for us (at least for me).
9. Playoff season is somewhat enjoyable, especially when the games end before midnight.
10. I (Kayla) think I could eat PW's pineapple grilled chicken quesadilla everyday. Delicious.
11. I said I would end on 10, but oh well. Allergies stink. They should be punished.
Since my last post, a few things have happened:
- Jack graduated with his MBA!
- I moved offices (which now Jack and I have an actual potential to carpool to work)
- Wedding season has started (which has resulted in a somewhat 7 year high school reunions and the after college date party)
I'll be a bit better with this blog. At least I know my grandma likes reading it.
Up is the only way to Thunder.

Two things...
1. I think we are all in the wrong business. We all need to start making sheets. Yes, bed sheets. Because you can charge $30 for two pillow cases.. the same amount for one fitted sheet. It's either a rip off or the most brilliant marketing plan ever - when you buy new sheets you want to have matching pillow cases. Maybe this fact is well known, but I was blown away at the cost of our new sheets.
2. I was called old for the first time this week by the radio station. One of our favorite stations on XM is "90s on 9", which plays all the best music from 1990 to 1999. I happened to be listening to their sister station (which they have tons 60s on 6, 70s on 7, etc) The Pulse (or was it Pop2K... nonetheless) and they said "if you are listening to 90s on 9, you are too damn old." Thanks. I enjoy music from the 90s. Although I was three when 1990 roll around, I don't think I am THAT old. I got a laugh out of this more than shopping for sheets.
That's all.
Thunder up.

A few updates....
Wow, how can January almost be gone?! This month flew by so fast. I hope February is a little slower; I want to enjoy the month! February brings our anniversary, valentines, leap year, and gets us one month closer to March.
I hope you enjoy the updates - mostly from end of December and early January. I'll need some time to figure out what we did in January.
To a slow February...

Updates, long over due
I've updated the blog (you're welcome Grandma and Laura). I've been meaning to update for a while, but I had computer issues, then I resolved them. Then I waited until my new monitor came, and it did and I love it. Then, Jack and I started watching Criminal Minds every night... then I ran out reasons.
So enjoy the updates. I will be better at posting since I now have a working, awesome computer with an awesome monitor.
Happy reading.

Oh, hey there September
The month of August flew by to say the least, which goes against my theory that my last blog post was just a few days ago... wrong. We were busy every weekend in August, but we loved every weekend in August.
We went to Houston to see my Grandma, which also means seeing my aunt, uncle, two cousins, five dogs and a turtle. Two of our college friends, who moved to Houston to work after graduating, met up with us for a movie. We miss our friends; it was so great seeing them. I'm sure I have a few pictures from the weekend, but my camera is in the other room.... and maybe I'm being a bit lazy... and maybe it's because I'm on Jack's Mac, which I don't know much about.
We went to Grand Lake and it was grand. We went up to meet two other couples from our small group. We had a great weekend cruising the lake and relaxing. I know I have pictures from this weekend, but again, the camera is still in the other room. I promise I will post some this weekend. We also stopped in Tulsa on our way back to see the Harpers. My nieces and nephew are hilarious. My nephew might be the funniest 2 year old I know. They rock my socks off.
The one good thing about September - Football season (and my ginormous work project is sort of finished). Jack has been listening to the Sports Animal, reading ESPN.com, and soonersports.com in preparation for the Sooners chase for 8. We enjoyed the seasoner opener last weekend in Norman. We spent time with Jack's sister and brother in law, Jack's parents and his gramps. We spent a good chunk of our time at the SigEp house. We had fun. It was super hot, even at kickoff, which was 7pm. I actually stole Jordan's water for myself because I was on the verge of passing out from dehydration. That part wasn't fun, but overall it was fun. We love football season. We love that our out of town friends come in for games. We miss them.
What's in store for this weekend you ask? Nothing.
I hope it stays that way.

Blizzard 2011, Part 2 (Not so blizzardy)
I am starting to forget what it is like to work on a Wednesday. This crazy Oklahoma weather has been quite entertaining. I believe our weatherman said it has been the second snowiest month in Oklahoma history. This storm wasn't as blizzard like, but it did have dangerously cold wind chill values. Here are some progression pictures from this part two storm.
Just like Will Rogers once said "If you don’t like the weather in Oklahoma, just wait and it will change."
Looks like my first Wednesday back to work will be a sunny, mild day.
Happy Wednesday - from the almost stir crazy and someone needs to stop baking treats,

(PS. I am about to go dip my cake balls into their chocolate goodness.)

Snow drift in the front. Last week's drift never fully melted. Now, it will be here until my birthday.

Blog Facelift
I hope you enjoy the new layout of the blog. It's something I have been wanting to revamp and I luckily found a free day to do so... thank you blizzard 2011. I still have a few ideas I want to try...
Blizzard 2011
The thunder-snow has stuck in Oklahoma City! Jack and I went to bed last night knowing my work was canceled and his had a delayed start. We could hear the sleet hitting our windows as we drifted asleep. Morning comes, Jack's office is closed, and we have snow drifts already at 3 feet! The high today is 11; but the wind chill is -15!
We are so blessed to have power, heat, lots of food, and weathermen guiding us through this Blizzard.
Stay warm Oklahoma, and stay inside!!
-Jack and Kayla
The patio is lightly dusted with snow.
Duncan loves the snow, but he agrees the wind makes so cold. (He is inside today; he just went outside for a brief moment to take care of his business).
Drifts along the fence.
Our sidewalk... is about 3 feet below the snow.
Our front porch, not too horrible.
The best drift I have seen since... Christmas 2009.
Backdoor drift. Duncan trampled it.
Stay warm Oklahoma, and stay inside!!

Duncan makes us laugh
Really hard actually. He is such a comedian (when he is not stealing socks or shoes from the closet). Here's some of his latest "I'm going make them laugh" moments.
Thanks for making us smile Duncan Dog.

Shortly after we set up the guest room bed, we found Duncan laying down, trying to nap! He isn't allowed on beds (and we think he knows that), but he loves stealing moments on the bed!

This may be the beginning of his modeling career. Just laying in the sun.

He loves napping. Especially if someone is already relaxing on the couch.

He enjoys the cool tile. In this spot, he will know the second Jack leaves the office for a study break.

House!
October 1st marked the official "Jack and Kayla are house hunting" season. We spent about six weeks looking around NW Oklahoma City for our first house. As of November 11, we are under contract to buy a house! It's brand new, ready to move in, 3 bedroom/2 bath house in a great little neighborhood. We are set to close December 13th (and I think we are still on schedule for it). Here's a sneak peak on the house (I'll post more pictures once we have signed the hundreds of papers and it's officially ours).
We are excited to make this transition from renting to owning!

A Few Pictures
Here are pictures of our favorite dog!
This is the 4oz jug from Jack's Jug of Root Beer from the State Fair. Duncan loved his new toy (it only lasted about 15 minutes).
Ha, this is him running. We he has something new or exciting - he runs around the house like a wild man!

Sunday of Cleaning!
Today hasn't been too restful for us - we have been cleaning!! We had Stanley Steemer come out on Thursday to make our carpet cleaner. It's quite amazing how dirty the carpet is/was with a Duncan Dog. He monster paws bring in so much dirt! Ick!
So today, we have vacuumed our carpet and cars (with our favorite Dyson Duo!)
Cleaned the Kitchen
Cleaned our pink bathroom
Jack mowed the back yard (and with that comes scooping up after Duncan) and watered!
Jack picked the weeds from the planter, so our lovely rocks can be displayed for the world to see.
AND Jack tackled the biggest weed known to man! He "sawed" it with a knife!
And found these strange things growing on the weed....
We also cleaned the baseboards of the house... that really makes you feel clean!
Needless to say, we are tired. We still need to de-clutter a few areas... but that will have to tomorrow.
Happy Sunday!

Duncan's Night
We got a little taste of having a little baby in the house last night. I suddenly had to go to the bathroom at 2am. While in there, I start hearing Duncan crying. It's not normal for our big boy to cry. I tell Jack and he hops out of bed, runs to Duncan crate, and they run down the hall to the backyard..... yup - Duncan had to go number 2... really bad. Jack stayed up with him for an hour while Duncan's tummy was upset. Duncan got to sleep in his crate in our room for the rest of the night. Poor puppy.
I took some time off work to take him the vet. We really don't want another night of really bad number 2's. It was my first time to take him to the vet by myself and we had a great trip! He was polite (well, he only barked at one family), let a little girl pet him, sat next to me (and even laid down!), and didn't number 1 on anything! He got a shot and some pills to start taking tomorrow. He is such a brave boy!
Feel better Dunky Wunky!

Happy Monday!
Here are a few pictures from Jack's iPhone (it's about time we got these great pictures off the phone!).
A boot o beer. This darn boot doesn't fit in the dishwasher well.
(I think this is a restaurant in Norman)
The trouble maker, Duncan Dog, as a puppy.
(He still loves shredding paper towels)
Taking a napper in Aunt Jordan's car.
(I think we cleaned the hair and slobber out after we used her car)
Sleeping boys.
(Duncan didn't stay still much longer after the picture)
Sleeping away.
(It appears in the picture I am missing an arm...)
Thanks for reading!
Happy Monday!

Dunky!
Some pictures of our favorite silver lab!
Duncan likes to lay on the back of the couch, like small dogs dog.
He also thinks he is a little puppy.
