Fall is Here!

On Wednesday night, we went outside to watch fall arrive. Informed by news anchors and weathermen, fall arrived at 10:09 on September 22. So, we filmed this event.

Per Wikipedia - An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth's equator. The term equinox can also be used in a broader sense, meaning the date when such a passage happens. The name "equinox" is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day are approximately equally long. It may be better understood to mean that latitudes +L and -L north and south of the Equator experience nights of equal length.

Happy Fall!

Jupiter!

Jack and I saw Jupiter this week! According to the weatherman, Jupiter was the closest to the earth in some 30 years! What a fun memory!

Jupiter is the smaller bright dot. The moon is the bigger spot.

I think I remember seeing Mars when I was little, but now I sort of want to see all the planets in the sky. Let me know if you know the next time one is visible!

A Few Pictures

Here are pictures of our favorite dog!

This is the 4oz jug from Jack's Jug of Root Beer from the State Fair. Duncan loved his new toy (it only lasted about 15 minutes).
Ha, this is him running. We he has something new or exciting - he runs around the house like a wild man!
Such a face of intesity and determination!

Happy guy!

Sunday of Cleaning!

Today hasn't been too restful for us - we have been cleaning!! We had Stanley Steemer come out on Thursday to make our carpet cleaner. It's quite amazing how dirty the carpet is/was with a Duncan Dog. He monster paws bring in so much dirt! Ick!

So today, we have vacuumed our carpet and cars (with our favorite Dyson Duo!)
Cleaned the Kitchen
Cleaned our pink bathroom
Jack mowed the back yard (and with that comes scooping up after Duncan) and watered!

Jack picked the weeds from the planter, so our lovely rocks can be displayed for the world to see.

AND Jack tackled the biggest weed known to man! He "sawed" it with a knife!
And found these strange things growing on the weed....

We also cleaned the baseboards of the house... that really makes you feel clean!

Needless to say, we are tired. We still need to de-clutter a few areas... but that will have to tomorrow.
Happy Sunday!

Duncan's Geurkinkaversary!

On September 13, Duncan had his first Geurkinkaversary! It was one year ago we drove down to Justin, Texas to pick him up and bring him home!

It's been one fun year with Duncan - full of laughter and joy! He makes us smile so much, even when we are trying to discipline him for stealing shoes. We are pretty sure he still thinks of himself as a small puppy...He has no idea he is 70 pounds!

We can't wait to have more Geurkinkaversaries!

Rusty, the poodle, and his surgery

My sweet little Rusty (my parent's 10 year old poodle and Duncan's cousin) had eye surgery this week. He was diagnosed with diabetes earlier this year and with that he got two big cataracts in his eyes, causing him to be just about blind. He would bump into walls, chairs, people....even fell into the pool a few times. Poor puppy. After much thinking, my parents opted for surgery and I think we are all happy, including Rusty!

This was right after his surgery. He and my mom stopped by my house (since the vet is up in OKC). He saw me come out of my front door! It's just amazing he can see again!
The vet shaved around his eyes. My moms likes to think he has been wearing a batman mask.

Here you can see his clear, clear eyes!
He is back to playing with his toy balls - he likes to hoard and keep two around him at all times.

I'm going to make the assumption that big brother Jobee (who is the 11 year old poodle) is quite jealous of Rusty's clear eyes. Jobee has cataracts, but not as bad as Rustys - Jobee still harasses everyone!

(If you didn't know, I love poodles. I think they are awesome.)

Labor Day in Colorado Springs

What a fantastic time Jack and I had in Colorado Springs for Labor Day! We celebrated KK's (Jack's grandma) 75th birthday! The whole family surprised her - what a fun trip! Here of some of the pictures from the weekend.

We can't wait to go back!

Labor Day Weekend!

It's just about Labor Day Weekend, which means several things:
  1. 3-Day weekend, which then turns into a short work week the following week,
  2. Sooner Football kicks off in Norman,
  3. Jack and I jet off to Colorado Springs for the weekend,
  4. and Duncan goes to Top Dog Pet Resort and Spa.
He loves that place! We will be thinking about you big boy - don't get in trouble, be nice, and please, please don't tackle anyone.

heavy winds to double rainbow

We had another exciting evening of Oklahoma weather!
 Clouds brewing in the west
Southeast view

We had two power surges, which interrupted my laundry loads, but that was about all. Jack and I were still able to cook our dinner (chicken and roasted potatoes). It rained for about 30 minutes or so, then the storm passed and left us with this....
a faint rainbow - which became brighter....
and brighter...
and brighter! It was a double rainbow!
Rainbows make still make me smile, just like they did when I was a child. They are fascinating! I sat on our front porch step just watching the sky change colors and the rainbow arch appear and then disappear. I even saw some lightning "pass through" the rainbow. So beautiful and somewhat breathtaking.

Oh, and Duncan took himself on a walk. We let him in the front with us to take care of his business, but he had more important business down the street. So, the beauty of the sky was a little interrupted by Duncan's adolescent behavior.

Happy Thursday!
