College Days

My sister-in-law Jordan and my old roommate Roni are chaperons at Monmouth - a Kappa date party with Pi Phi. It reminds how much fun Kappa was and how much it means to me! I love being married and being in the real world - but I'll always remember my dear Kappa days!

Sophomore year - when Amanda and Anne became my littles!

Sophomore year - OU/TX weekend

We will miss you student section, where sunburns are frequent.

Thank you Kappa for creating the best college memories!!

Four Showers in Two Weeks

It's officially wedding season!! I have been to 4 showers (Two of those Jack went to) - what an exciting time for our friends and family!

Two weekends ago, was one of the Geurkink's dear family friends son's couples shower (whew, does that make since?!) Lane and Mike! What a fun time to catch up with friends and enjoy some delicious food!
The next day, Jordan and Trey had a couples shower. Jack and I had such a fun time getting to meet some of Trey's family and friends.

Such an adorable couple! I can't wait for you all to be married!

This past Saturday, myself and other co-bridesmaids hosted a bridal shower for our friend Laura. She is such a dear friend - she is going to make a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L bride! I wish I had some pictures to share, but I was too busy socializing with everyone!
Saturday continued with a mid afternoon rain shower, which I tried to nap during but it was cut short due to the sun coming back out! Jack had some guys over Saturday night to watch the Oklahoma City Thunder beat LA in game 4! What an exciting game - GO THUNDER!

Sunday flew by as Jack, my mom, and I travelled to Dallas for the day. We made stop at IKEA (which gives me heart burn just thinking of that superstore!) and got almost all of the parts to our entertainment/TV stand. We also stopped at SPRINKLES cupcakes.... delicious.  The main reason for our trip was to throw a shower! I (along with the help of others) put on a surprise bridal shower for my cousin! We had a great time - even though she knew!!
Meghan is 14 months younger than me, so we have basically grown up together. Grandma sometimes get us confused! We played the "bubble gum" game - which we have on video - she was a trooper and did great!
So cute! She did say the shower was better than she expected!

With four showers down, we still have invitations for three more showers! What a fun time during our lives!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Today is a rainy Saturday. Jack and I are content in staying inside, but sweet little Duncan wants to play outside. He gazes out the backdoor, perhaps singing, "rain rain, go away, i want to play with jack today". Maybe it will let up a little for him to go romp and chase some varmits.

Since it's a inside day, we have several ideas for our day.
--Watch Lord of the Rings (Jack's personal favorite)
--Back up all computers (My favorite)
--Laundry, a necessary weekend activity
--Bake something : cookies or a cake!!
--Clean the dreaded study/Duncan's room.

Perhaps my cake could look like this... yeah right.

Who know what today holds, but it will be a good one since I have Jack and Duncan around!

Day in Bixby!

My mom, Jack and I headed up the Turner Turnpike on Saturday to spend some time with the Harpers. We had so much fun; the kids did too!

Ava adopted a caterpillar and named him Spikey. He ate an entire leaf in front of us! It was really cool.

Maggie played on the fort with Uncle Jack. She loved going down the slide!
They also played on the swings.

Mr Henry played peek a boo with me! He has four teeth!
We tried crawling, but he wasn't too interested.

We had so much fun! Mom played IT Support and helped Alicia set up her wireless network. Maggie helped by saying "Hi Grandma!" every few seconds. We had so much fun! We love you Harpers!

Love,
Jack and Kayla

Duncan Hoards....

It has come to our attention that there is a chance Duncan Dog is a hoarder.

Exhibit A.
That picture was taken from our bedroom window. Since the weather has been nice, Duncan hangs out by our bedroom window, where he apparently keeps his "toys". Perhaps he is just created smiley faces, however, Jack and I tend to believe he is hoarding.
1. Doormat. This doormat has become his romping friend. It came with our house when we started rented it; Duncan took an immediate interest since it has fringe.
2. Red Frisbee. This was a durable, un-chewable frisbee. Duncan overcame that challenge and chewed a hole through it.
3. Blue Frisbee. This is the halftime training backup frisbee. According to Jack, it doesn't fly as well but Duncan is still able to train.
4. A piece of a hose. When we brought the grill up, we also brought up the hose. This was apparently not an approved move by Duncan. It wasn't even 12 hours before Duncan made the executive decision to chew the hose up. Needless to say, Jack and I are in the market for a new hose.

We love Duncan and Duncan loves us. We are lucky that he keeps his destroying/hoarding habits outside. Inside, he only steals shoes (and slobbers on them), paper towels from the trash can (he shreds these) and he takes his sheepskin bed out from his crate (and sometimes shreds this, but mainly will come up and rub it against you). We are super lucky he doesn't like chewing furniture or carpet. He has so much love to give!!

We love you Big Boy Duncan Geurkink!

up from the grave HE arose!

Happy Easter everyone!
Our Easter weekend has been so fun - the weather has been great!

Saturday we spent time at the park when our church celebrating spring and loving on the people from the City Rescue Mission. Jack and Daniel played basketball and showed off their skills. Laura and I helped wherever we were needed: sand bracelets and guarding computers. We had a blast!

Laura and Daniel came back up OKC and we made dinner for them!  We have so much fun with them; we can't wait for their July wedding (however, in August they will be moving to Washington DC; it's still a sore subject for Jack)! Jack loves playing host: we made some drinks, grilled out some awesome steaks, and (my favorite part) made fondue!

Laura and Daniel! Jack and I have the honor of being in their wedding this summer!

Our fondue! Thank you to my bridesmaids for the wonderful gift! The fondue we made was divine!

Jack and Daniel. Perhaps separated at birth, but have become such good friends (all because of Laura and I!)

Good Friday, Day off of work!

Happy Good Friday! I got to sleep in a little bit this morning... I loved it! Jack was extra quiet this morning getting ready for work, so I didn't even wake up until he kissed me goodbye.. what a gentlemen! I have a pretty optimistic to-do list today; I can't wait to cross things off! It mainly includes laundry and cleaning, but I can enjoy the housework with Rachel Ray or Oprah on in the background. Endless possibilities today!

I thought I would post some of my favorite wedding pictures today!
I have about 150 other favorite pictures, but this is just a glimpse! I absolutely love our photographer Tammy Odell. She is just amazing! Check out her site at : todellphotography.com
